Summary
As an intern at Bountiful City I collected research to update the Accessory Dwelling Unit zoning code. State laws had recently been changed to regulate internal accessory dwelling units differently than other ADU’s. Through this process I reviewed applicable state laws to guide the parameters of the proposal. Then I researched neighboring communities to create a benchmark for what was being done in the region. Using this information and other supplement best practice guidelines gathered from organizations such as the American Planning Association I draft a code amendment proposal.
